The Seed's Southport 1914-15 Directory shows the following:
Cobham Alfred, signwriter & decorator, 4 East St.
Cobham Mrs. Ann, 105 Virginia St.
Cobham A., painter, 146 Upper Aughton Rd.
Cobham Mrs. Mary, 26 Upper Aughton Rd.
Cobham Rd, watchman, 44 Old Park Lane.
I have Alfred's family through to 1911 (6 children) plus a couple of grandchildren. He died in 1930, aged 73 [EDIT - but you already know that - just read the posting on the Alfred Cobham thread ]
Coincidentally I was recently contacted by two Cobham descendants on Genesreunited. One is the grandson of Annie Cobham, sister of Arthur & Alfred, and was asking exactly the same questions that started this thread off. The other is descended from Roger Cobham's brother Thurston Cobham, who amazingly also married a relative of mine, Alice Halsall.
I pointed both of them to this thread as they must be fairly close cousins to you, Barbara. Maybe they will get in touch.

Thanks bobg. Yes, 146 Upper Aughton Road was where Ann's son Arthur lived. His widow, my Granny, continued to live there until the 1940's. It was my home too when I was born.
Interested to learn of the descendants on Genesreunited Brian. Perhaps they'll get in touch.

Having been pointed to this site by Brian G, I was delighted to learn of the conclusions reached by a number of obviously very wise people. This has been a thorn in my side for over 2 years, and I am happy that it has now reached a conclusion.
I am also delighted to have learned that I have a second cousin in North Devon. Hello Barbara, I would love to hear from you.
Does anyone who took part in this discussion have any information on what happened to Edwin Walter Cobham b. 1864 to Roger & Ann? He appears on the 1881 census, but after that vanishes

Glad you've joined the forum Chris and good to know we're related.
I don't have anything on Ann's son Edwin after 1881 either, nor do I know what happened to William b abt 1851, Jane b abt 1853 or Sarah b abt 1865.
Perhaps someone can help.
Meantime I've sent you a pm
