I think this may be the family in 1841
Churchtown, Lancashire - all born this county
James wright - 25 Silk weaver
Jane Wright - 25
William Wright - 4
Richard Wright - 1
Margaret Wright - 2 months
It would appear from that they married before 1837 and the start of registration. Hopefully someone may have the parish registers
You can purchase various items from the society - available to non-members. Our web site may help -
www.nmfhssouthport.co.uk
There are extracts for the surname Wright from the parish registers 1594-1837 for example.
Maybe someone else will reply and give more help in the next week or so when things get back to normal.
And yes Churchtown is part of Southport.

In the 'Wright' one-name extracts I've searched from 1800 to 1830 and there is only the one James in the baptisms:
18.10.1812 James (Mother Elizabeth) Churchtown : base born
The only feasible James Wright marriage is:
December 1829 James Wright to Jane Ball

| I wouldn't send off for a certificate until you are sure that it is the correct William Wright that you are looking for! The one-name extract (which goes up to 1837) doesn't have this William in it - with parents James and Jane; I think it odd that there is no indication of baptisms in St Cuthbert's Church from their marriage in 1829 up to 1837 - you might have to look elsewhere in the area for this family!

I agree with Seacop. Please don't go sending for a certificate unless you are certain it's the right one.
If that is the right family in 1841 then William may well have been born before the start of registration - so no birth certificate will be available.
Although the family lived in Churchtown it is always possible they used a different church to St Cuthbert's. What about a non conformist or even a different place - Ormskirk for example.
The surname doesnt help really - quite a lot of them in this area. Hopefully someone with the same Wright family will appear - a few connections have been made on this forum

Jane SeaCop,
Thanks for the replies....... What would you suggest i do next, to confirm William's birth info (ie mum and dad) I do have a copy from latter day saints of Williams marriage 1863 to Rachel Brown in Deane, Bolton that states that Williams Father is James Wright so thats good...
In all censuses i have got from Ancestry it states he was born circa 1837-1838 Church, Southport........

Thanks again Jane
I guess its back to the drawing board lol needless to say I am really enjoying this research but fairly new only started my tree this year and sadly most of the family have passed on now so it makes it more difficult but I have had some success on one of my other family lines found a distant cousin i never knew i had and got lots of info from her which was great...btw that was on Genes Reunited it proved very helpful site...
Right back to the "Wrights" if you will pardon the pun
will let u know of any success I have
