| you might need to put a little more information about her. That surname must be one of the more popular ones in North Meols

| Could it be that Ann died and he married her sister?

No.
I've checked on the "Park" database and there were children to the same parents before and after this particular Richard who died at the age of 11 months. There was another child named Richard baptised in 1824 who died at age 9 in 1833. Another son, born later in 1833, was also called Richard.

Joyce doesn't have any information on Ann Ball.

William and Ann Hesketh had 3 sons named Richard - the first one died at 11 months of age, the second one died at 9 years of age, and the 3rd one presumably survived (although not shown with them on the 1841 census).
They also had a son called William, and 6 daughters named Ellen, Ann, Elizabeth, Alice, Jane and Margaret.

Thank you everyone for your help. Hope you all had a good Christmas.
With regard to my Richard Hesketh.
I checked the PARRY family web site and as the last Richard Hesketh born to William and Ann ball was born 1833 I am quite sure this is not my Richard Hesketh. My Richard is very consistent in the census returns with his given age so must stick to a birth date c 1822. He is a mariner and married Margaret Murphy of Drogheda Ireland about 1844. He gives a birth place as Tarleton in one census and Hesketh Bank in another two. Their first son was William born Ireland 1845.
The nearest Catholic churches that would have records for Richard's birth are Scarisbrick St. Elizabeth 1773-1824 and Burscough St. John the Evangalist 1793-1824. Does anyone have access to these? If not would you know where I could view them.
Once again, thank you for your help. Regards, Barbara Whiteside.

There is a Richard Hesketh of about the right age on the Tarleton (St Mary's) Registers -
7 October 1821 Richard son of Thomas and Mary Hesketh (of) Tarleton farmer born 6/9/1821
