I am trying to find out the names of some relatives of my grandfather, possibly his cousin, who used to live in Burscough. They had a small holding or small farm. Uncle Dick used to rear pigs, my father talked about visiting him in the 40s or 50s, I think his wife may have been called Ellen. The property then passed to his children, names Billy and Nelllie ring a bell and I think they had someone called Annie Parr living with them. When I visited in the 70s their property was off a busy main road. Surnames Meadows and Caunce may be relevant. Moss Lane Burscough featured in some census details for my grandfather. Many thanks.

My Grandfather was Richard Meadows, born 17th Feb 1900 in Southport. His father was Jeffrey Meadows born 1874 in Churchtown, Southport. Jeffrey Meadows married an Annie Caunce from Burscough in 1896. Hope this helps.

I have now found my relatives in the Burscough farm:

1911 census shows Richard Meadows (my grandfather) and Annie Meadows (my great Aunt) living at Moss Lane, Lathom near Ormskirk with
Richard Laithwaite aged 30
Ellen Laithwaite aged 43 nee Caunce born abt 1868
Ellen Laithaite aged 4
Annie Laithwaite aged 3
Richard Meadows
Annie Meadows
This was because Richard and Annie's own mother Annie Meadows (nee Caunce) had just died.

Ellen Laithwaite became Ellen (Nellie) Aspinall, married William Aspinall in 1943 (Nellie and Billy) and Annie Laithwaite married Danniel Parr.

Exactly how Annie Caunce wife of Richard Meadows and Ellen Laithwaite nee Caunec are related is not certain, I assume sisters but the info in censuses and BMD does not quite tally, still looking into this.
These were the people we used to visit in Buscough, and were presumably cousins of Richard Meadows.

The address of the probate of Richard Laithwaite was 213 Moss Lane Burscough.
