I'm trying to find out who, if anyone Harriet Isherwood, born 1876 in Yorkshire, shortly after her parents' marriage, but brought up in Southport, the eldest daughter of William Whiteley Isherwood , usually described as a joiner, and Ann (Newbold) married.
I "have " her in 1881 in the census, with her parents, in Southport, but I can't seem to find her after that. I can find no relevant record of a possible death before the 1891 census, either.
Another (adopted) member of the household married at Mornington Road Methodists in 1908, and I'm pretty sure that her parents had strong Methodist connections, so she may have married at a Methodist chapel. For some time I was misled by a not wholly correct tree given me many years ago by a family member, which showed her marrying a John Marshall Abram - whereas it was the adopted daughter, Edith, I've since proved, who made that marriage, in February 1908.
So: I can't find Harriet in censuses 1891 and after.
I can't find a likely death for her after the time of 1881 census and before 1891.
I can't find a possible marriage, which would have resulted in a change of name for her.
The family mostly were in Southport until 1911, but she really seems to have vanished from sight. Could anyone help, please? All ideas welcomed.

Thank you, andy orm. I'd reckoned  to have gone through the 1881 and 1891 censuses tediously on Ancestry hunting in vain for her.
I'll check those out, there is another Isherwood family I know in Southport at the same time, with parents William and Ann. That William seems mostly to have worked on the Railway throughout his working life, in various capacities. Mine was a Joiner. It took me ages to get them fully separated, as some of the children have the same names, and similar ages.

The name "Malam" is completely new to me, interesting... once I've got her pinned down, I'll start on her Aunt Alice!
Thank you again.

Hmmm - not at all sure that the Liverpool marriage is hers - but I can't find spouse Walter, either. Ah well, back to the keyboard!

Just an update - I think I've found her, I knew at least a brother had gone to Canada, and I think Harriet married a man called William Massey in 1892, and afterwards emigrated to Canada.
She was in service, as you said, andy orm, in 1891 with the Rileys, but the Liverpool marriage was not hers.
She left for Canada in 1914 with children Richard, Harold and Alice, from Liverpool. There was an older daughter Edith,b 1895, but I've not yet worked out what happened to her. I've not yet traced what happened to her husband, either - but I intend to go on hunting!
Thanks you andy orm, for your help.
