Over the front door H M H 1831 , The land lady did not know until i told her what it stood for. It is Henry and Margaret Halton who built the Beer House . One of their sons John was my 2nd gt grandfather who moved across the moss to farm and make bricks and tiles at Mossock Hall nr Aughton. i have a few pics of the family at the Kicking Donkey  "from Ancestry" any one else with any pics or info. They are all buried at Ormskirk.

Hi there.I am retired and living in Aughton, Ormskirk and my son Matt has recently bought the lease of the Kicking Donkey and after its thoroughgoing refurbishment plans to re-open it  next week 5pm Thursday 17th August. Matt is making a soft start and is opening for drinks and nibbles, sharing platters etc and plans launching the full menu in September. (See https://www.facebook.com/kickingdonkeypub)
Matt has asked me to research the history of 'The Kicker' and to seek old photos of it and particularly to find out about the founding family the Haltons which I would very much like to do.
Googling I found your 2014 forum posts on NMFHS and joined up so  if possible I could contact Malc-B and anyone else with any interest or info also please regarding the history of The Kicking Donkey, (until I think the 1940s known as The Inn at Narrow Moss Lane), Narrow Moss Lane, Scarisbrick, Nr Ormskirk, Lancashire L40 8HY.
Best wishes, Simon
