The Spanish Armada met its fate,
In fifteen hundred and eighty eight.

In sixteen hundred and sixty six,
London burnt like rotten sticks.

Divorced, beheaded, died;
Divorced, beheaded, survived.

Hope this doesn't offend anybody, but my step-father taught me some awful stuff - funny how the horrible things stay in your head! Well, here goes:
Taffy was a Welshman
~Taffy was a thief
Taffy came to our house
And stole a leg of beef
I went to Taffy's house
Taffy was in bed
- So I 'upped' with the poker
And hit him on the head!

When the wind is in East
'Tis neither good for man nor beast
When the wind is in the North
'The skilful fisher goes not forth
When the wind is in the South
It blows the bait in the fishes mouth
When the wind is in the West
Then it is at its very best

A metre measures 3 ft 3
it's longer than a yard, you see

Pardon me for being rude
Is was not me it was my food.
Better to belch and bear the shame
Than squelch the belch and bear the pain.
